Bring Me Something!

This morning amidst all the pre-teen sisters' fighting, Jake complaining yet again of a tummy ache, and me sitting on the couch clinging desperately to my first cup of coffee, Courtney asked where I'm flying this afternoon. Here's the conversation that followed.

M: Flying a man home to Washington D.C. then flying right back.

C: Ooooo...bring me a bobble-head.

M: A bobble-head??? Of who?

C: Well, George Washington! (hear the "who else?" tone in her voice...how could I be so dumb, right?)

M: Baby, I'm not going to be there long enough to shop.

C: Or maybe a Mount Rushmore THERMOS! (we'd already argued for 15 minutes over why my travel coffee mug was NOT suitable to take chicken and stars soup to school for lunch. I won, but I'm just waiting for her to try it one day when I'm out of town.)

M: Courtney, Mount Rushmore is in South Dakota.

C: Oh. Well how about a Statue of Liberty figure for my room?

M: Baby that's in New York. And I'm not even going to get off the airplane today. We'll drop him off and turn right around and fly home.

C: Oh....ok.

Guess you can't blame her for trying! Sweet baby! She absolutely cracks me up! If you've ever read The Five Love Languages, you'll understand...her 'language' is giving and receiving gifts....mostly receiving at this age!
